Hip Replacement Provides Relief for Lisa Newton
Jon Kretzler, MD, of Longview Orthopedic Associates Lisa Newton was in so much pain she could barely make it through the work day. The Longview resident went for an examination and learned that her right hip was bone on bone and contained multiple bone spurs.
"I have a high pain threshold, but it was so bad I couldn’t do anything but lie down when I got home from work," she said.
Four weeks after a hip replacement surgery performed by Jon Kretzler, MD, of Longview Orthopedic Associates, Lisa is on the way back.
"I feel better every day," she said. "It’s great to be able to walk upright instead of hunched over."
A Sterile Processing Tech at St. John Medical Center in Longview, Newton has worked in the surgical area for more than 20 years. She knows quality care when she sees it.
"Dr. Kretzler is a very gifted surgeon," she said. "I like his calmness, his positive energy, and the fact that he is very careful about double-checking things."
Lisa was also impressed with the staff at LOA. "They helped me deal with the short-term disability paperwork and really showed they cared about me."
After graduating from Western Washington University, Dr. Kretzler earned his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a member of the medical honor society. He completed his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital and received fellowship training in sports medicine at Penn State University, where he worked with the school’s athletic teams.
Dr. Kretzler served in the U.S. Army Reserves for nine years before joining Longview Orthopedic Associates in 1993.
