Dr. Kung Testimonials

Dr. Kung did rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder 6 years ago after a fall while elk hunting in Montana. On July 3rd 2018 he did rotator cuff surgery again on my left shoulder after another fall. Both surgeries and recoveries went well and I’m very pleased with the outcome. Dr. Kung is an excellent surgeon and if you follow his post-op instructions your outcome will be great also! Thank you Dr. Kung

Vancouver Ironman Competitor Relies on Dr. Peter Kung

Although Tim Call lives in Vancouver, he chose to drive to Longview Orthopedic Associates at Pacific Surgical Institute for orthopedic care.

"I initially called a prominent orthopedic group in Vancouver," he said. "They made me feel like they were doing me a favor just by answering the phone. Fortunately, a friend referred me to Dr. Kung."

Call, a construction worker and former high school athlete, was suffering from extreme pain in his right knee. "I was living on anti-inflammatories just to be able to sleep at night," he said.

An MRI revealed a large cyst that was putting pressure on Tim’s knee. Dr. Kung removed the cyst and also scoped the knee during a procedure at Pacific Surgical Center.

Prior to the recommendation from his friend, Call was unaware that surgeries requiring general anesthesia could be performed outside a hospital setting. "I was impressed with everything about Pacific Surgical Center and would definitely use it over a hospital in the future."

Call had good words for Dr. Kung as well. "He was down to earth, thorough, approachable, and incredibly knowledgeable. I tell everybody I know what a great physician he is."

Tim is back on his feet and back in the game. At age 58, he has already completed more than 30 triathlons and three Ironman competitions.

"My goal is to win my age group when I’m 80," he said.

Dr. Kung is fellowship trained and specializes in arthroscopic and minimally invasive procedures in the shoulder, knee and elbow. Hip Replacement the Perfect Solution for Clarence Demase

Astoria resident Clarence Demase knew he had to make a decision.

His right hip was causing him tremendous pain that had drastically reduced his mobility. He opted to have Dr. Peter Kung of Longview Orthopedic Associates perform a joint replacement procedure, and he’s very glad he did.

"Doctor Kung is a fantastic surgeon," Demase said. "He’s completely focused on taking great care of his patients."

Demase is completely satisfied with the results of his surgery. "I haven’t had any complications," he said. "The pain is gone and I can get around much better."

Demase was also impressed with the professionalism of the LOA staff. "They were very efficient and courteous," he said.

Cathlamet Resident Credits Dr. Kung for Quality of Life Improvements

Gaylene Johnson was playing with her grandson when the problem began. She extended her left arm to stop him as he ran by and her shoulder began aching almost immediately. From there, things got worse.

"I was just miserable," she said.

She made an appointment to see Dr. Peter Kung of Longview Orthopedic Associates. Dr. Kung scheduled at MRI for Johnson at Pacific Imaging Center. The MRI revealed a tear.

Surgery solved the problem in the left shoulder, but Johnson soon experienced similar pain in her right shoulder and discovered it had also suffered a tear. Dr. Kung again performed the successful procedure.

Johnson is completely satisfied with the results. "I’m right back to normal, with no pain and full range of motion," she said. "I couldn’t be happier with the procedures."

And she was very impressed by Dr. Kung. "He’s the nicest, most pleasant, and understanding physician I’ve ever met."

Johnson completed her physical therapy at Longview Physical & Sports Therapy. Like Pacific Imaging Center and Longview Orthopedic Associates, LPST is located at Pacific Surgical Institute.

LOA Patient Credits Dr. Kung with "Amazing" Work

Stephanie Austin’s right shoulder was a mess.

After several car wrecks and numerous falls, the Clatskanie, Oregon, resident was experiencing excruciating pain. "For the past few years, it was just about unbearable."

An MRI at Pacific Imaging Center revealed the seriousness of the problem. "After he looked at the MRI, Dr. Kung said it was no wonder I was in misery. There were bone spurs and a lot of arthritis."

The surgery, which Kung said was the most complicated shoulder procedure he’s ever done, went exceptionally well. "I could tell almost immediately that the pain was gone," Austin said.

She completed rehabilitation at Longview Physical & Sports Therapy and is now fully recovered.

"I’m 99 percent better and now have full mobility," Austin said. "Dr. Kung did an amazing job with a very complicated procedure."

Dr. Kung completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of California at San Francisco and worked as a sports medicine fellow at the nationally-renowned Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles. He earned board certification in 2011.
