Jake McLeod, DPM, of Longview Orthopedic Associates was one of more than 2,000 attendees at the 2025 ACFAS (American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons) conference, which was held in Phoenix, Arizona, earlier this year. Dr. McLeod was a featured speaker at the event.

His presentation focused on ankle fractures and minimally invasive approaches to repair them. “While discussing minimally invasive ankle fracture surgical repair, I focused on the benefits of soft tissue healing with this approach. The advantage to patients is fewer soft tissue complications, most notably wound dehiscence (when the incision opens up) and infection. The techniques aren’t necessarily new, but they are more refined and typically provide faster healing.”

Dr. McLeod also interviewed candidates involved in the foot and ankle trauma and sports medicine fellowship program.

“My role in the fellowship program as an attending physician is to help train the candidates on foot and ankle surgery, giving them the guidance and autonomy to manage anything from routine to complex foot and ankle pathologies,” he said

He also attended lectures on advanced foot and ankle trauma and minimally invasive surgery for bunion repairs. “These are techniques I use with my own patients,” he said.

Dr. McLeod earned his medical degree at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. He then completed his surgical residency at the Highlands Foot & Ankle Institute in Denver, Colorado. He later completed a foot and ankle sports medicine fellowship at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle.
